This week, over 7.5 million people from more than 130 countries will be participating in tens of thousands of activities designed to promote entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking.

The first Enterprise Week – now ‘Global Entrepreneurship Week‘ (GEW) – was originally held in the UK a decade ago; since then it has spread across the world. Building on last year’s invitation to ‘pass it on’, the theme for GEW 2013 is ‘Take a Step Forward’; current and aspiring entrepreneurs are being encouraged to make a move in their plans – be it starting a business, seizing a new opportunity or finding out more about careers in enterprise.

We are proud to count amongst Edward Elgar’s authors some of the world’s leading academic researchers in the field of entrepreneurship. In recognition of GEW this week we will be featuring a different scholarly post each day on Elgarblog, offering some unique insights into intriguing aspects of this key discipline, along with a 35% discount on a selection of our entrepreneurship books.

To kick us off tomorrow, Catherine Casson will be taking a historical perspective on the secrets of a successful entrepreneur.
